Vineyard teams are four-for-for this postseason, with the girls’ basketball team picking up the latest victory after defeating East Bridgewater at home 52-34 on Thursday afternoon.
With the win, the girls move on to the semifinal round of the South Section Division 3 tournament, where they will play the winner of Thursday night’s Fairhaven/Norwell game.
The Vineyarders trailed by 3 at the half, but held their opponents to just four points in the third quarter while putting 17 up on the board. East Bridgewater was unable to recover from the deficit in the next quarter.
Junior Jennie Lindland scored 16 points for the Vineyard and was rock solid from the line. Junior Maggie Riseborough notched 12, while juniors Kendall Robinson and Katie Stewart had 10 each. Senior Madison Hughes turned in three points while making her presence known on the defensive end of things.
Playoff action continues tomorrow at the regional high school at 5:45 p.m. as the boys’ basketball team hosts Bishop Feehan.
