This week the Animal Shelter of Martha’s Vineyard is featuring two beautiful calico cats — Cupid and Butter. Both came from the same home and are probably sisters. They are about three years old and look very much alike. Both have recently been spayed and are very friendly around children and good around dogs. They are really wonderful house cats and love attention. They do not have to be adopted together, but would be great company for each other. Won’t you please stop by and see these two sweet cats?

Other cats available for adoption are Binx, a beautiful black and white cat with long, white whiskers; Socks, an older female, long-haired black and white cat; Misty, Fisher, Annabelle, Celia and Bill, all black or black and white cats; handsome Karate, a black cat with striking white markings; Maxine and Rascal, both tabbies; Foxy Lady, a tortoiseshell; and Chloe, a brindle. All get along quite well with each other (they are all let out of their cages during the day so they are able to socialize with each other). Karate is a bit overzealous with the other cats, so he should probably go to a home where he is the only cat. Only cats make wonderful pets because they bond quickly with their owners.

Boo Boo is still with us; he is a dwarf male bunny, black and white and as lovable as can be. And we still have Fernanda, the guinea pig.

Shelter hours are Wednesdays 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Thursdays and Fridays 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Saturdays 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The shelter is closed Sunday through Tuesday. The telephone number is 508-627-8662.

Volunteers are needed and contributions are always gratefully accepted; we are funded solely by donations. The Susie Fund was established to pay the medical expenses of animals at the shelter who need medical care.
