Hooting for Love

The animal kingdom does not have an official Valentine’s Day to celebrate the joining of hearts. After all, wings or claws make it a bit difficult to pen odes of endearment or hold a pair of scissors to make those doily hearts. But that doesn’t mean the ardor of animal love is a quieter affair.

Come hear for yourself on Thursday, Feb. 17, when Robert Culbert will be leading a walk on the Philips Preserve in Tisbury to listen to the courting call of the great-horned owl. The mournful hooting is guaranteed to set your own heart soaring.

The walk is free but space is limited so preregistration is required. Call Sheriff’s Meadow at 508-693-5207 to register and for directions.
