The Animal Shelter of Martha’s Vineyard has the perfect kitten available for adoption; her name is Alice and she was born at the shelter seven weeks ago. Her mother has been adopted and Alice will soon be all alone; she is a calico and very special. Our other cats are Bebe, a tortoiseshell who gets along fine with other cats and is very friendly; Binx, a tuxedo with long white whiskers who has been at the shelter for a long time and really needs a home; Phoebe, a ginger and white; Dolly, another tuxedo who is an indoor cat and loves to sit in the window and watch the birds; and Gracie, a sweet, lovable, long-haired gray cat. The shelter has some other cats who are not ready for adoption yet, but will be as soon as they are neutered.

The shelter has two guinea pigs, Piggy Sue and Mocha, both females, brown and white. They love to be cuddled. There is one bunny, Honey Bun, a brown and white lop-eared; she is just beautiful and would make a great pet for some child. She comes with her own indoor-outdoor cage.

There are two great dogs: Katama, a fawn boxer cross who loves to go for walks; and Daisy, a border collie cross who is sweet and gets along well with cats.

The shelter needs dog walkers and volunteers who can come in on mornings to feed the cats and clean their cages, and afternoons to tuck the animals in for the night. Shelter hours are Wednesdays from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Thursdays and Fridays from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
