Take Me Out to the Cape League

Jacoby Ellsbury, Mike Lowell, Mo Vaughn and Kevin Youkilis all started in the Cape Cod Baseball League. So it’s scouting time on Thursday when the Falmouth Commodores take on the Hyannis Harbor Hawks here, at 1 p.m. at the main baseball diamond at the high school.

Batting practice begins at 11 a.m. Entry is by donation (say, $4).

Who will throw out the first pitch? At presstime betting was split between Peter Farrelly, director of Fever Pitch and West Tisbury seasonal resident and Carlin Hart, the high school assistant principal who played in the Cape League. But it could also come out of left field.
