Island literary figures are seeking poetry for a new award which will recognize up to five Promising Young Poets.

Short manuscripts of three to five poems will be read by a distinguished panel of poets. The results will be announced in April, national poetry month.

Published poets representing a wide range of styles, from traditional, rhymed to unrhymed free verse, and experimental to performance/slam poetry are already committed to the project; Linda Black, Michael West, Fan Ogilvie, Justen Ahren, Daniel Waters and Fanny Howe, 2009 Ruth Lilly Poetry Prize winner.
